Danger -
Warning - Alarm
if I were a red light I'd be flashing ….. read this before buying. We try and give you the best products at the best prices with the best service. At the moment
there are suppliers whose price of machines are slightly cheaper than ours. The
reason for this as you may not be aware, is that they are American Husqvarna
imports. (Phone calls and correspondence (although there is usually no address
given) are automatically diverted from an apparent UK site to the US). Another
way to tell is that they often have a 16" bar (UK machines come with 13", 15", 18" as standard - never a 16"). Contrary to what you may be told, they have no UK warranty, if they went wrong you would have to ship them at your own expense back to the US. None of these machines have a European C.E. mark on them so therefore not technically legal to use in the UK. Always ask if the seller is an authorised UK Husqvarna dealer, get their name and address, and then check with Husqvarna UK on 01453 820300. Also, it's not likely that any UK Husqvarna dealer would risk handling a non C.E. machine, as in the event of an accident they could be made liable. Any claims you may make would end with yourselves, as you may be considered the importing agent - and personally liable. Although a price is quoted for the machine which may include delivery, it is usual that you would be liable for VAT and import duty before it is handed over to you in this country. (Sometimes the carriers also charge an admin fee as well for doing the customs paperwork). Regarding the machines, all US machines are subject to E.P.A. regulations (Environmental Protection Agency). This mainly concerns the carburettor. Carburettors have jet limiters to reduce exhaustive emissions. These are factory set and basically make the machines run weak. Out of the box they may not be as powerful as UK machines, and may run too hot. Most UK machines have jet limiters. As I personally tune all machines to run a full power, if required I reset the jet limiters as UK machines aren't subject to US emission laws, and I'm allowed to do this. As mentioned before, I would not dare touch a US import. When you do need spares many UK Husqvarna components are not compatible with US E.P.A. machines. All our machines are not just P.D.I.'d, as no 2 machines are completely identical. We run all machines to full temperature, thoroughly check all systems, and individually tune machines to maximum power and efficiency. Also, in most cases, we do next day delivery. Always ask if the seller is an authorised UK Husqvarna dealer, get their name and address, and then check with Husqvarna UK on 01453 820300. |
